AdBlue Guide | Everything You Need To Know

If your fleet includes vehicles from the year 2006 or onwards then there is a chance that you are already using AdBlue.

This AdBlue guide will include everything you need to know when it comes to purchasing AdBlue using Fuelwise Fuel Cards.

AdBlue Guide

What Is AdBlue?

AdBlue is a solution composed of deionized water and urea, both of which are non-toxic substances. This fluid is designed to be automatically injected into the exhaust system of your diesel vehicle, aiding in the reduction of harmful emissions.

What Is AdBlue Made Of?

AdBlue solution consists of a precise mixture of 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. The urea component of AdBlue is derived by subjecting synthetic ammonia and carbon dioxide to heat. Subsequently, the resulting urea is combined with de-ionized water, resulting in the creation of AdBlue.

How Does AdBlue Work?

Upon being sprayed into the exhaust system, the AdBlue solution initiates a reaction with the nitrogen oxide gas generated during the combustion process. This reaction effectively transforms the harmful emissions into steam and nitrogen, thereby contributing to the reduction of pollutants.

How Do I Fill Up With AdBlue?

When it comes to purchasing AdBlue using a Fuelwise Fuel Card, the process is the exact same as purchasing diesel. Check out our guide on how to use a fuel card.

Some fuel stations will allow you to purchase jars of AdBlue using a fuel card, however, this is at the sites discretion and you should always check first.

Where Can I Fill Up With AdBlue?

You can purchase AdBlue at any fuel station on the Fuelwise Fuel Card Site Network that provides AdBlue as a product option.

At the time of writing in June 2023, there are 1,164 fuel stations that provide AdBlue.

You can filter your search and view only sites that provide AdBlue when using our online site locator or mobile app.

Can I Buy AdBlue With My Fuel Card?

Yes, all fuel cards that have Diesel as a product option automatically include AdBlue.
